Founder and Program Director
Linda Findlay is the founder and director of Mourning Discoveries. She is a published author,
publisher, nationally known public speaker, a certified AARP grief support
outreach trainer, a Hospice trained support group facilitator, a Family Assistance Team Member
for Kenyon International Disaster Management, Houston, TX, an aftercare coordinator
for funeral home firms for over 18 years, grief support specialist, business owner, and
Bereaved Parent. She has established Mourning Discoveries as one of the leading companies in the U.S. who
provides grief assistance services. Her programs are the only programs that offer unlimited toll-free telephone support services
and complete customization and fulfillment options.
About Linda Findlay Linda Findlay became a bereaved parent after the loss of her infant daughter, Aubrie Marie in 1989.
Linda lives in upstate NY along with her husband Bob and their daughter Julia. She is a certified grief support specialist,
a published author and a guest speaker at various engagements throughout the US. Linda began
working with grieving families in 1990. Since that time she has filled the role of Aftercare Coordinator for funeral
home firms. She currently represents over 300 funeral home firms in 25 states and Canada. Linda has continually
facilitated bereavement support groups as a hospice volunteer and is an AARP Widowed Person Service volunteer trainer and
outreach provider. She has provided follow up care to tens of thousands of families in grief.
She is a nationally
known speaker on subjects of loss and grief. She is sought out by funeral home firms across the country to
provide community outreach workshops, holiday memorial services and grief support training for staff.
In a style
reflecting compassion, personal loss, experience working with bereaved families, she effectively communicates with people
who are grieving a loss to death. Through the sharing of personal stories and professional experiences with both integrity
and credibility, Linda provides valuable tools, understanding and solid, practical ways to help the bereaved.
After years of encouragement from her peers, Linda completed her first book project. She has authored a series
of books called , the "Family Care Series™". There are four books in the series. Each book is
written to be received at specific times during the first year of grief. She is very proud of this work and honored
to be able to provide this wonderful resource to her funeral home clients, for their families.
Profile of Mourning Discoveries Mourning Discoveries was
officially formed in 1993. Mourning Discoveries family of care has grown year after year. To date, we provide grief assistance
program services to thousands of grieving individuals, representing more than 300 funeral home firms in 25 states and Canada.
Our services are a value added benefit, provided to the grieving individual, on behalf of the program sponsor. Our continuation
of support for grieving families is very well received and greatly needed.
Mourning
Discoveries Staff Include:
Highly Trained Bereavement Support Specialists Our telephone support specialists
complete a 10-hour training course. This course was developed and designed to train individuals to provide exceptional grief
support services. Each support specialist is required to attend a minimum of 4 additional training sessions per year.
Master-Level Social Worker
We are partnered with a master-leveled social worker, available to provide prearranged
telephone counseling.
Research Specialist
We have, on staff, a highly qualified research
specialist. Our research specialist is responsible for exploring and locating local support and resource information. This
information is provided to the grieving client as needed. We will provide referral information to local support groups, counseling
services, spiritual, or pastoral care.
Office Manager and Support Staff
Highly experienced office
management and data input specialists. Our expertise and credibility is respected among all of our program sponsors, health care, and educational
establishments, and our community. We will gladly furnish references upon request.
